Stewart MacMillan was a veteran Navy and an attorney and was named commissioner of the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). He was joined by his pretty and genius wife Sally played by Susan Saint James, his opinionated housekeeper Mildred, and his assistant Sgt. Charles Enright played by John Schuck.

McMillan and Wife was a an immediate hit. And as a trivia the address of the couple was once given in the show and it is 250 Carson Street.
